Jeans For Geeks

Those who like carrying their iPhones or iPod with them need jeans for the geeks for easy portability. They are custom-made jeans with sizeable and special pockets that can fit iPhones of various sizes. You no longer need to hook them on your belt as this does not look fashionable. You can carry them in your back pocket because they have soft padding that reduces pressure. You can also carry with you your USB stick because the jeans have numerous pockets. This cable is very important for your iPhone especially…

Dress up your phone in Nokia Angry Birds cases

Angry Birds has been a phenomena for quite some time now (I have to admit, the game is pretty addictive) and now Nokia has released their representative phone cases, in an effort to keep its clientele happy (and the children away from sharp, pointy objects). They can be used on several Symbian phones from Nokia, including the N8 and its latest unveiled E7. The mechanism is easy: you simply snap them onto the back of the phone. The available designs include Black Bird, King Pig and Red Bird (still waiting…

eReader + tablet + laptop = Flexbook

Flexbook is a concept developed by Taiwanese designer Hao-Chun Huang that participated at “Fujitsu Design Award 2011: A life with future computing”, organized by Design Boom in collaboration with Fujitsu. And I really, really, really want to see it made. This could very well be the Golden Grail of all user-friendly devices. Depending on your wishes, the Flexbook can be folded as an e-book reader, a tablet for reading news or a laptop for working on text documents, through a 180-degree swivel touch screen. The portable Flexbook has a waterproof…

Wireless Keyboard + Victorian Typewriter = something very cool

Let’s face it: keyboards are getting boring. And you can actually get sick of too many technology advancements. Don’t you just want to relive the golden days, at least for a little while? Putting it in delicate words – if a vintage-looking typewriter would merge with a wireless keyboard, then their baby would be a magnificent mutant. These are a hand-made and custom-built wireless keyboard and mouse with an early Victorian look (they actually look more like art than computer peripherals). Having gold leaf styling, solid oak trim and hand…

Chromebook – Google Chrome OS on Acer and Samsung

During the Google I/0 2011 conference, there was an announcement made about the Chromebook operating system. This term basically describes all notebooks that support the Chrome operating system. The two manufacturers featured are Acer and Samsung, announced by Sundar Pichai. The Chromebook wants to reinvent and redesign the whole PC experience while solely focusing on the web features, by bringing the perks of phones and tablets. It concentrates on improving security, portability and access. And because we know how frustrated we all get when we start-up our PC systems and…

Use gum to support your smartphone – iStuck Phone Stand

Remember when you were in school and found gum virtually everywhere? Under the desk, on your seat, in your hair (the horror…). Relive the “good old days” with this iStuck phone stand that supports your iPhone or iPad. The whole concept reminds me of those gooey little friends I was manipulating in World of Goo. And just like in the game, an icky object proves to be the mother of all physics. This gum imitator keeps your “iDevice” at the perfect angle so you can enjoy watching a movie. Twin…

Cool Bio Robot Fridge for Fresh Food

Electrolux Design Lab is a contest designed for students and fresh graduates from the industry area. Global participants create electrical appliances and equipment, but only the best idea is awarded. This year, one of the applicants, Yuriy Dmitriev launched Bio Robot Fridge. A layer of gel is designed to keep the food fresh. This machine without engine leaves a smaller carbon footprint than any normal refrigerator. It’s an original concept, especially it can be installed everywhere in the house, including on the ceiling.

Hybrid Furniture, by Paul Kweton

Paul Kweton is a designer who successfully manipulates wood, turning it into modern furniture. Its piece, Hybrid Furniture is a mixture of an old school rocking chair and a dog house. Weirdly enough, the result actually looks great. Made from plywood, the Hybrid Furniture allows you to rest on the comfortable chair, while your favorite canine pet can take a nap beneath you (literally). The chair has a special opening that’s big enough for a dog to fit in.

Pushing the limits: PaperPhone to replace SmartPhone

A PaperPhone is… an iPhone so flexible, that you’d think you are holding paper in your hands. The creator of this contraption, Roel Vertegaal, the Director of Queen’s University Human Media Lab thinks this will replace all phones in the next 5-10 years. This ultraportable PaperPhone prototype performs all actions of the smartphone (you can record books, listen to music, make calls etc). Featuring a 9.5 cm diagonal thin film flexible display, this sounds like the start of a paperless world (save the trees!). To be unveiled on May 10…
